We are looking for a Social Media Manager to join our growing Learning Sandbox team. Learning Sandbox is an education technology consultancy based in Cape Town, South Africa. The heartbeat of our business is producing bespoke digital content while also offering strategic, pedagogical and digital asset research, design and production services. As our Social Media Manager, your primary responsibilities will include creating, managing, and executing social media campaigns that engage and build the audience of our client, LabXchange. You will join the LabXchange Growth team to ensure that LabXchanges voice and message are consistent across six social media platforms.

Harvard Universitys LabXchange is a free online platform for science education that launched in 2020. LabXchange strives to make science accessible to anyone, anywhere, through interactive digital learning resources and collaborative features, and brings together learners, educators, and researchers to discover and engage in the process of teaching and learning science.
This role is for someone who is excited about social media and understands the power it holds to demonstrate the value of LabXchange to users, potential users, collaborators and thought leaders, as well as to drive high-value engagement from our audience and grow our followers.

- Reports to: Outreach & Communications Manager
- Location: Remote, with the option of coming into our shared office space in Constantia, Cape Town.
- Company: Learning Sandbox
- Collaborate with Outreach & Communications Manager to build and nurture LabXchange community through compelling storytelling, experiences, and content distributed across owned, earned, and paid channels, with a focus on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Pinterest and YouTube. Proactively produce and own a social-alone content planning calendar.
- Combine a deep understanding of the target audience and brand positioning with engaging content to inform the development of channel strategies that resonate with LabXchange users, differentiate the product from competitors, and adhere to the nuances of specific markets.
- Ensure that LabXchange brand messaging, visual identity, and experience are consistent across all channels and touch points, and protect reputation and brand narrative.
- Collaborate with graphic design, video, and motion design teams to produce captivating and entertaining social media assets that reflect LabXchanges values and commitment to high-quality, educational, and scientifically accurate content. An interest in new and emerging platforms and formats is critical.
- Collaborate with Digital Communications Specialist, Content Team, and Instructional Technology Team to closely monitor high-performing editorial content, and produce social content to resurface them on social media in order to drive website traffic.
- Use social listening practices to provide the Growth team with content performance data, conversation sentiment and trends, competitive intelligence, and insights. Identify relevant social media trends for in-the-moment content creation opportunities.
- Evaluate ROI of social media campaigns and channel performance, and iterate as necessary. Share data-informed content planning recommendations.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience as a Social Media Manager or similar role. Strong knowledge of social media platforms and their respective audiences.
- Experience with social media management tools such as Hootsuite.
- Strong analytical skills to measure the effectiveness of campaigns and adjust strategies accordingly.
- Excellent writing and online communication skills; able to present information clearly and concisely and communicate clearly at all levels within an organization.
- Solutions oriented; must be able to critically analyze data and tackle problems and present viable solutions.
- Organized and detail-oriented: Able to sequence tasks and manage time effectively.
- Interest or background in science or education is a big plus.
- Must be eligible for employment in South Africa.
