SOCIAL MEDIA SPECALIST

We are looking for an experienced Social Media Specialist to lead the development, implementation, and management of Zip Zaps social media strategy. The Social Media Specialist will play a vital role in building and maintaining Zip Zaps online presence, fostering relationships with followers and driving user engagement.

Location: Salt River, Cape Town. Own transport required.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

This role is varied and dynamic.
As part of the marketing team, you will build the Zip Zap Circus brand by:

1. Raising awareness and creating excitement and knowledge locally, nationally, and internationally around Zip Zaps Social and Professional Circus.
2. Supporting the social circus fundraising, events, and programmes teams by delivering on their marketing and design requirements.
3. Cultivating, managing, and engaging with Zip Zaps online community on our key social media platforms.
4. Building the Zip Zap brand by leveraging and sourcing cost-effective opportunities.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

Strategic Social Media Management

• Develop and execute social media strategies aligned with overall marketing objectives.
• Plan and execute social media campaigns that resonate with our target audience and deliver consistent brand messaging.
• Cultivate, manage, and engage with Zip Zaps online communities on our key social media platforms - Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, LinkedIn and X.
• Stay up to date with the latest trends in design, technology, and social media.

Innovative Content Creation

• Create visual concepts to communicate brand messages.
• Develop innovative social media campaigns and graphics.
• Write, edit, and proofread content for social media posts, newsletters, websites, annual report, media releases and blogs, and prepare video scripts and storyboards.
• Prepare content calendars and scheduling.

Design Excellence

• Use your photography and videography skills as a foundation for storytelling.
• Knowledge of design tools Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and other software.
• Develop and edit videos using Adobe suite or alternative free software.
• Ensure visual designs meet brand guidelines and standards.

Monitoring Success

• Monitor and respond to all comments, mentions and messages on social media channels.
• Track and measure social media performance using analytics tools and develop graphs and research feedback for reporting.
• Update the Marketing Dashboard compiling of monthly reports (website, social media, media coverage) using Google Analytics and Meta reporting.

Marketing Support

• Support event planning, co-ordination, and execution.
• Administrative support, and open to supporting team where required.
• Merchandise planning, selling, marketing, and stock-taking.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
Proven experience as a social media specialist or a similar role, ideally within an NPO environment.
Experience and knowledge of social media marketing, platforms, analytics, and tools.
Excellent communication, copywriting, editing and presentation skills.
Understanding of colour theory and principles of design.
Graphic design ability.
Competent photographer and videographer.
Knowledge of current trends in design, technology, and social media.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, while meeting tight deadlines.
