We are looking for talented, diverse candidates with experience working on projects compliant with international E&S safeguards and standards, across a range of sectors (i.e energy, transport, infrastructure, extractives) across Sub-Saharan Africa. The candidate must be fluent in spoken and written English, as technical writing will be required, being fluent in French (spoken/written) will be preferred. Travel within Sub-Saharan will also be required on a regular basis.
The ideal candidate will be someone with approximately 7 - 14 years relevant social performance consulting experience in Sub-Saharan Africa, which may comprise a mix of experience in:
- Social Due Diligence
- Social Impact Assessment
- Resettlement and Livelihood Restoration Planning and Implementation Stakeholder Engagement Planning / Consultation Coordination
- Community / Social Development Planning
- Human Rights and Labour
- Gender mainstreaming
- Indigenous Peoples Assessment
- Managing or coordinating small or medium size projects or whole elements of larger multidisciplinary or global projects as ERM works closely with some of the worlds largest organizations, we anticipate that this role will require close collaboration with our regional and global social performance teams.
- Delivering multiple project tasks or components, including proposals
- Supervising project team(s) and coaching and mentoring more junior staff.
- Understanding the interrelationships between ERM services and policies and how these are applied within the clients business model.
- Establishing strong working relationships with clients through project delivery and technical expertise
- Developing social performance and public affairs services in South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa as part of a technical team
- Capable of working across a variety of sectors, and across various disciplines within social performance
- Making use of effective working relationships with business unit and participate in global technical communities to ensure strong network of resources.
- Remaining up to date with external market and client industry trends
- Sharing expertise and knowledge within the business unit and/or global practice area
- Understanding how work of the project team and or practice community contributes to ERMs success.
