Position of the job in the organisation: The successful candidate will report directly to the O&M Analytics Manager.
Principal responsibilities:
Asset Performance Monitoring
- Continuously monitor operational data to track performance metrics and ensure assets meet or exceed expected performance benchmarks.
- Identify inefficiencies, anomalies, or potential risks in asset performance and provide timely alerts to the operations team.
- Ensure the monitoring system is active and accurate, facilitating real-time tracking and data completeness.
- Maintain monitoring databases and portals, ensuring data availability, high quality, and easy accessibility for the team and stakeholders.
- Act as a relief to the control room operator on alternate weekends and leave periods.
- Support financial processes by providing timely performance data for invoicing and customer reporting.
- Prepare detailed and accurate reports on asset performance, maintenance activities, and operational efficiency for internal teams.
- Deliver periodic performance summaries to stakeholders, ensuring data is presented clearly and effectively.
- Continuously improve the quality, consistency, and timeliness of reports.
- Support troubleshooting efforts by providing detailed analyses of equipment and system performance.
- Collect, organise, and maintain up-to-date records for accurate performance reporting.
- Identify trends, address system irregularities, and collaborate with teams to maintain smooth operations and optimal asset performance.
- Track solar asset performance using databases and monitoring software, providing regular updates on key metrics.
- Diagnose and address underperformance patterns, recommending corrective actions and escalating critical issues as necessary.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams to address unresolved issues and prioritise urgent repairs.
- Work closely with engineering, operations, and technical teams to provide insights that inform decision-making and improve processes.
- Assist in cross-functional projects to support overall asset performance optimisation.
- Assist in training and cross-training team members to maintain a knowledgeable and adaptable team for monitoring-related tasks.
- Any other roles related to the position and required by the company.
PERSON DESCRIPTION
Experience:
- 2-3 years' experience in the Solar PV industry relating to asset and maintenance management.
- Qualification in data sciences or engineering: Certificate, Diploma or Degree.
- Proficient in MS Office
- Advanced in MS Excel.
- Proficient in any CMMS Software.
- Inverter & solar panel knowledge, including thin film and polycrystalline.
- Good interpersonal skills in terms of communication and ability to contribute to a team.
- Valid driver's license and willing to travel
- Experience in a similar role.
- Proficiency in introductory statistical techniques (e.g., distributions, regression).
- Proficiency in data analysis with Excel, Power Query and PowerBI.
- Overtime may be needed to meet deadlines, including remote work over weekends for high-priority emergencies and after-hours monitoring of PV assets.
- Demonstrates a drive for results and efficiency and embraces the value of continuous improvement.
- Ability to learn new technology platforms (partner portals, reporting portals, etc.)
- Strong organisational skills and document management skills with acute attention to detail
- Intermediate SQL skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as a team
- Ability to navigate your workload by responding to customer system issues and implementing project-related initiatives in downtime.
What Does Success Look Like?
By month 3:
- I will be familiar with our solar software and internal processes.
- I will have participated in monthly 1:1s with my manager.
- I will know how to gather data from Excel spreadsheets and databases for analysis.
- I will be able to understand monitoring platforms and KPIs and be able to offer my services to cover weekend monitoring.
- I will have delivered accurate and timely reports and data for reporting, under supervision.
- I will know where to find data for the weekly scorecard and be updating the weekly scorecard on a Monday morning before 11:00.
- I will have participated in my monthly 1:1s and quarterly reviews. I will understand my KPIs and be accountable for them.
- I will have mastered the solar asset monitoring platform and be accountable for its performance.
- I can assist the maintenance manager in developing and implementing solutions to resolve solar system performance issues.
- I will ensure that all installed solar assets perform optimally and take appropriate action for system issues.
- Identify trends or anomalies in asset performance and recommend actionable insights.
- I will continue to manage the solar monitoring portal, ensuring that all asset data is online and of high quality. I will gather and analyse data to drive business decisions and provide recommendations for improving solar system performance.
- I will independently manage all reporting and analysis tasks for the O&M department.
- I will monitor the behaviour of solar systems, including degradation and production, to ensure optimal performance.
- I will develop user guides and job aids to help team members carry out daily tasks and cross-train them in monitoring and data analysis
