The Sales Representative plays a key role in driving sales and ensuring that stores are merchandised correctly. They will work closely with the national merchandising agency, merchandising supervisors, merchandising manager, and the marketing department to achieve sales targets and maintain brand consistency.
Key Performance Areas
- Develop and implement effective sales strategies to meet or exceed sales targets.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand the customer base.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing customers, providing excellent customer service and support.
- Conduct regular store visits to ensure correct merchandising of products according to brand guidelines.
- Collaborate with the national merchandising agency to develop merchandising plans and execute them in stores.
- Work closely with merchandising supervisors to train store staff on proper merchandising techniques.
- Liaise with the merchandising manager to report on store compliance and suggest improvements.
- Coordinate with the marketing department to align sales and marketing efforts, ensuring consistency in messaging and branding.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities to identify opportunities and potential threats.
- Prepare sales reports and forecasts, analysing data to identify areas for improvement and develop action plans.
- Attend trade shows, conferences, and other industry events to represent the company and promote its products.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as product development and customer support, to provide feedback and contribute to overall business growth.
- Participate in safety forums and attend relevant training/programmes
- Report all safety incidents to the relevant people
- Comply with safety policies and procedures
- Wear protective clothing (where applicable) at all times
- Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12, a relevant Tertiary qualification would be advantageous
- Computer literacy - MS Office Suite
- Valid Driver's license essential
- At least 2' year relevant experience in the retail environment (FMCG) with a proven track record of success in sales, preferably in a related industry.
- Strong knowledge of sales techniques and strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively sell products and services, close deals, and meet or exceed sales targets.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships.
- Results-oriented with a strong drive for achieving targets.
- Ability to analyse data and draw actionable insights.
- Proactive problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
- Familiarity with visual merchandising principles and experience in ensuring correct product placement and presentation.
- Strong interpersonal skills to establish and maintain relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.
- Ability to analyse sales data, market trends, and customer feedback to inform decision-making.
- Flexibility to adjust strategies and tactics in response to market dynamics and changing priorities.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
