Purpose of Job
To give support to project and maintenance teams on emergency systems, to ensure safe and reliable operations. To troubleshoot and diagnose plant & building smoke, fire & gas, fixed gas detection emergency systems, do repairs and carry out preventive maintenance routines to ensure business continuity.
Recruitment Description / Key Accountabilities
- Proven competence in Omniflex/Mitsubishi PLCs and Adroit SCADA systems.
- Familiar with different Network protocols and peripherals. E.g. (Static and Dynamic IP Addresses, Virtual LAN configurations, Power over Ethernet equipment, protocol converters, manged and unmanaged switches) etc.
- Computer literate. Word, Excel, Power point, & MS project.
- Perform system health checks and compile daily, weekly & monthly status reports.
- Perform system audits to ensure reliability, stability, and availability.
- Participate in Potential Deviation Analysis (PDAs) and Root Cause Analysis (RCAs) during unforeseen failures.
- Understand Fixed gas detection types and correct applications.
- Understand Ex equipment, installations, regulations, specifications, and standards.
- Problem solving/ investigations to understand the functional failures modes and root causes of breakdowns.
- Conduct technical review of equipment and develop maintenance strategies.
- Implementation of maintenance improvement initiatives.
- Assists with the development of work instructions to develop a higher level of staff competency.
- Take the lead in team efforts/tasks.
- Contribute to overall maintenance strategy and direction.
- Provides adequate feedback to group leader on work progress.
- Ensures the correct history feedback is captured to improve renewals/upgrades and critical spares are replaced.
- Review compliance and follow up against the standards and objectives.
- Adheres to standard procedures and practices.
- Resolve work obstacles and issues positively and quickly.
- Demonstrate effective listening and communication skills when dealing with colleagues.
- Project a positive image of the department.
- Develop healthy and constructive communication with team and colleagues.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with customers, managers and peers.
Occupational Trade Qualification/Certificate
Formal Education
Matric/N3 with Maths, English & Physical Science
Instrument/Electrical Trade Qualification (Red seal)
