About The Role
We are searching for a dedicated Specialist Projects who will assume the responsibility of supporting the ORICA PPM process from Estimating of projects and initiatives in the business to data cleansing and adherence/compliance to the ORICA project execution manual for the PPM portfolio in support of the engineering projects group. This role will be reporting to the Senior Engineer Projects.
The successful candidates will be based in our Rosebank office in Johannesburg with regular travels to our Africa operations.
What you will be doing
- Completing project estimates in line with business needs and engineering concepts;
- Compiling and reviewing BOQs with specific vendors for improved estimating of projects;
- Building a library of regional and country specific rates in line with future estimates;
- Supporting and embedding a culture of robust discipline in the ORICA project investment portfolio;
- Generating & Work flowing PPMs in accordance with ORICA Project Execution Manual;
- Routine reporting of project actual spends against budget and forecast on portfolio level;
- Regional Projects folder compliance and auditing;
- Assets Total cost of ownership calculations Fixed and Mobile Assets including TCO improvement.
- National Diploma / B-Tech / B Degree in suitable technical field (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering, Quantity Surveying);
- Minimum 7 years experience post qualification;
- Previous experience in estimating project activities from both greenfield and brownfield projects is a requisite;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to present strategic logic and recommended pathways, coupled with the ability to present to key stakeholders;
- Competent in MS Office applications;
- Competent in MS Project application;
- Competent in application and execution of SAP managed systems;
