Job summary:
The SQL Developer will be part of the organisation’s Development team and will be direct support to the call center. Will be involved in new developments, maintenance of current solutions, reporting and data work in a very high pace high demand environment.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Data Work
- Prepping and scrubbing client data for internal use
- Manipulating data in order for it to be used in our environment
- Working with big data sets in such a way that the live environment does not get affected
- A critical part of the job will be around “Campaign Setups” which involves creating a new database (based on a template) with data received from our clients in such a way that it meets the clients requirements and works with our sales capturing system
Development
- Involvement in projects inside the development department
- Automation of current manual processes throughout the business
- Trouble shoot and improve existing processes in the business
- Setup scripts that’s used to do investigations from a support point of view
- Implement changes as required on current processes
- Develop new processes based on requirements either from internal departments or external clients
Reporting
- Design Reports based on user requirements
- Develop views, stored procedures etc. as dynamic as possible to work across multiple databases
- Implement reports in a user friendly view that’s understandable to the user
- Alter data in excel to create valuable, easy assessable views
- Using of graphs, pivot tables, conditional formatting and VBA to achieve reporting goal
- Implement changes to current reports as and when required
- Understand the business in order to give valuable input with regards to reporting requirements as well as feedback on numbers obtained from reports
JOB SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Minimum 4 years’ experience working as a SQL Developer
- Previous involvement in reporting
- Relevant IT qualifications
- Excellent SQL skills
- Good knowledge on Transact SQL
- Understanding on triggers, stored procedures, views and general SQL code
- Ability to troubleshoot SQL related issues using the relevant tools and checking code
- Good knowledge of best practices in SQL to make queries as efficient as possible
- Excellent Excel skills
- Good data manipulating skills
- Team player
- Fast accurate worker
- Ability to work in a team, both within IT and the rest of the business
- Ability to work under pressure without compromising accuracy and work quality
