Why this role is exciting:

We are scaling our finance function and looking for a Staff Accountant - Revenue, reporting to the Senior Group Accountant - Revenue in the Corporate Accounting team. This person will be based in Cape Town and drive the transactional accounting for accounts receivables and revenue across various entities, along with Balance Sheet reconciliations and other month-end close processes.

Responsibilities:
  • Under limited supervision, responsible for various activities relating to the maintenance of a complete and accurate general ledger of the revenue recognition and accounting across the various revenue streams and/or subsidiaries within the group.
  • Ownership of the controls & processes for allocated sections of work within revenue & receivables, including the maintenance of any sub-ledgers within those areas (both income statement and balance sheet accounts), ensuring accounting records are in line with relevant accounting standards and group accounting policies.
  • Assist in the monthly and annual reporting process to ensure timely delivery of accurate financial information, including assistance with statutory compliance as needed.
  • Improve and/or initiate efficient balance sheet reconciliation processes within the allocated revenue sections.
  • Build relationships and work collaboratively with business units outside the finance team to maintain existing processes, and to implement new initiatives and projects where necessary.

  • Experienced accountant
  • Minimum of 4 years accounting experience, preferably in multinational organizations.
  • Excellent internal stakeholder service and relationship-building skills.
  • An independent, self-motivated individual who works well in a fast-paced environment with a positive, service-oriented attitude and attention to detail.
  • An analytical thinker with a growth mindset, superior problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent multi-tasker who effectively prioritizes tasks in order to meet deadlines, whilst allowing time for review.
  • Strong communicator, both written & verbal; reliable and responsive to email and internal company communications.
  • Highest level of integrity and good judgment, with the ability to effectively deal with highly sensitive, confidential information.
  • Strong computer skills, including GSuite (Gmail, Google calendar, Google docs), and Microsoft office (specifically Excel).
  • Experience in US GAAP is advantageous.
  • Experience in Oracle Netsuite ERP system is advantageous.
  • Experience with identifying, creating and improving business processes & controls is advantageous.
