Strategic Director

STRATEGY DIRECTOR

Purpose: The Strategy Director is responsible for providing expert media solutions to the client. In addition, the Strategy Director will be tasked with leading a team to build and develop strategy plans for the client, including how to embed, develop and grow the client within a fast-changing, highly complex target audience environment. Based on given objectives, the Strategy Director will apply their knowledge of media and communication platforms to identify the most appropriate vehicles for building awareness of a clients brand & meeting client objectives. The Strategic Director is to immerse themselves within the clients business, gaining an acute understanding of the clients needs and goals, as well as the customers, to provide clear and consistent input into the media strategy.

Strategy
  • Define and lead media strategy.
  • Adopt, adapt and govern global strategy and guidelines where available and necessary.
  • Create strong, compelling and strategic media recommendations on how different channels can be used to meet client objectives.
  • Use client data and technology architecture to provide strategy solutions to clients.
  • Strive to deliver media solutions that drive key objectives to ensure budget efficacy and performance.
  • Oversee the campaign strategy briefing process, overseeing the internal process (including creative agency involvement) to client presentation.
  • Provide ROI opportunities e.g., modeling, integration of strategy & implementation learnings.
  • Create strong, compelling, and strategic media recommendations on how channels can be used to integrate the consumer journey and define the role of media use to the consumer.
  • Use client data and technology architecture to provide strategy solutions that drive key objectives to ensure budget efficacy and performance.
  • Provide insight and strategic optimization input on all live campaigns to deliver against set objectives and maximise performance & efficiency.
  • Track and govern the implementation of the media strategic approach.
  • Govern the adoption of Media Principles.
  • Provide insights on emerging media and new opportunities.
  • Understand Open tools/ products to identify key opportunities where responsible and recommended, thus contributing to client targets.
Relationship Management
  • Develop strong relationships at all client levels.
  • Ensure regular media update presentations to client e.g., trends, landscapes, hot topics etc.
  • Maintain and develop strong symbiotic relationships with media partners/ vendors to contribute to best of business digital media strategy.
  • Ensure you update and maintain your knowledge of the clients organizational structure, planning process, marketing calendar and the needs of key stakeholders.
  • Ensure that client relationships continue to be strengthened by the quality of our deliverables and client satisfaction with our work.
People Management
  • Proactively lead your team to ensure that they are always delivering their best and are contributing to the companys goals.
  • Develop and grow a high performing team by ensuring that everyone has clarity around the business objectives and goals and that everyone is meeting their performance targets.
  • Manage your teams deliverables and ensure that they meet these on time at a high quality.
  • Regularly check-in with your team to gain insightful information on their progress and performance and give them regular feedback.
  • Provide coaching, mentorship or training when required in order to ensure that each individual is performing at the required standard.
  • Assist your team with challenges they are facing and, advise and train them when required.
  • Manage staff development by understanding growth opportunities and implementing necessary training.
Regional Management and Structure:
  • Accountable for governance of strategic framework and adherence through the continent
  • Governs adoption and usage of Media Golden Rules throughout the continent
  • Accountable for strategic output per governance guidelines throughout the continent
  • Drives innovation and creativity through all markets
The Ideal Candidate
  • Minimum 8 years work experience in a strategic role.
  • Experience working at a Media Agency.
  • Presentation skills.
  • Strategic Mindset.
  • Strong understanding of the media landscape.
  • Significant proven experience of working with multiple stakeholders, e.g., suppliers, advertising/marketing agencies, media owners.
  • Understands business principles and good practice.
