The Manager Strategic Financial Planning ensures strategic financial enablement of Santam through the development and implementation of financial planning and strategic support processes, including forward-looking reporting, continuous forecasting, data analytics and scenario planning. The role is a key contributor to the execution of the Finance vision to deliver exceptional value that supports profitable growth for all our stakeholders as strategic business partners. The Santam financial environment is a complex one and extends beyond Santam to our subsidiaries. The incumbent will work closely with senior stakeholders across the Santam Group, and across multiple functions, to ensure delivery of quality long-range planning, budgets, forecasts and performance analysis. The role is based at our head office, in Bellville, Cape Town, reporting to the Head Group Finance & Data Transformation.
What will make you successful in this role?
- Implementing a sustainable system and process for delivery of driver-based continuous forecasting and scenario analysis for the Santam Group. This includes implementation of required data solution to support the process
- Working closely with actuarial, underwriting and risk management teams to ensure a deep understanding of performance drivers and the impact of catastrophes, other risk events and environmental changes on the financial results and outlook
- Develop financial models and scenario analyses to support monitoring of financial results, forecasts, KPIs and targets
- Recommending strategies for improved financial performance
- Managing the budgeting, forecasting and long-term planning process in support of the strategy and financial targets of the group
- Taking ownership of the budget and forecasting systems to ensure that it supports the process optimally
- Supporting decision-making by providing stakeholders with timely and meaningful insights and intelligence as well as visibility on business performance
- Taking ownership of the cost allocation rules and processes that support strategic goals and business needs
- Leading group-wide initiatives on expense management, including benchmarking and identification of potential efficiencies and savings
- Team management, training, mentoring, and coaching
- Relevant tertiary qualification such as CIMA, CA or similar four year financial degree.
- At least five years experience on a management level in a similar or financial reporting role.
- Financial services experience (preferably insurance) will be a distinct advantage.
- Experience in project delivery and implementation of financial technology or data solutions
- Experience in dealing with diverse and senior stakeholders.
- Extensive management accounting experience.
- Experience with Infor CPM, Qlickview, Hyperion Financial Management and/or JD Edwards would be advantageous.
- High levels of business acumen and leadership skills.
