JOB DESCRIPTION:
The successful candidate will form part of the Engineering and Projects Team and report to the Engineering Manager. This individual must be able to function as part of an engineering team, working closely with and advising other design and engineering staff. The candidate must have an excellent understanding of relevant local and international codes, the full project life cycle, as well as knowledge of the relevant modern manufacturing techniques.
REQUIREMENTS:
- BSc Degree (Civil/Structural Engineering) or equivalent.
- Experience with RISA-3D, RAM Elements, CASTA or similar structural engineering software.
- More than 3 years experience in a similar role.
- Experience with greenhouse structural design preferred.
- Valid drivers license and own transport.
- Willing to travel within South Africa and Africa.
- Detailed design and engineering of polyethylene greenhouses.
- Perform structural steel designs, including building and foundation elements.
- Perform calculations to ensure proper component design at both the part and structural level.
- Manage the development of assemblies and components in SolidWorks
- Ensure compliance with all relevant building codes.
- Facilitate seamless integration between greenhouse structure and other systems (Heating, Ventilation, Electrical, Water, etc).
- Provide technical input when required to support the execution process (procurement, manufacturing, QA, installation, etc).
- Team player with the ability to ensure support and collaboration both internally and externally.
- Analytical thinker with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Meticulous and methodical with good record keeping abilities.
- Able to multi-task in a high volume, fast-paced work environment.
- A high level of self-motivation and ability to set and meet goals will be necessary.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure, trouble-shoot and to meet short- and long-term deadlines.
