Job Purpose
The Warehouse Planner is responsible for the inbound and outbound warehouse capacity planning on a daily basis. The inbound planning consists of receiving and put away of stock to make stock available against customer orders. Outbound planning is focused on order processing and scheduling of pick worksheets, internal replenishment between bulk storage and the pick face area. The planner is also responsible for capacity planning, bin maintenance, monitoring overall pick progress and assisting with planning related queries.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all inbound items have bin content.
- Monitor that all put aways are assigned to the correct bins or areas.
- Analyse all orders, ensure shipping date and route is correct and orders can be fulfilled with stock on hand.
- Plan transfer orders and ensure they are ready to be loaded. Provide feedback to procurement regarding short loads, out of stock and changed vintages.
- Ensure that the volume of bottles for the orders in the system for next days picking does not exceed the volume that the warehouse can pick during that shift, alternatively liaise with the warehouse manager to increase the pick capacity.
- Manage the available capacity of the bin types within the warehouse. Direct activities to optimise Bin usage.
- Prepare and send the daily plan to warehouse and distribution for their approval. Distribution will confirm that the vehicles can accommodate the volume. Warehouse will confirm that the planned capacity is sufficient.
- Check that Sales Orders are released per the corrects shipment dates and promise delivery dates.
- Provide pick plan to the warehouse administrator and warehouse supervisor for processing.
- Assist with operational queries, in order to ensure that picks are completed.
- Ensure all planned warehouse shipments were completed as per the reservation on the sales orders.
- Create and maintain bins by using sales history to calculate bin requirements.
- Determine which bins to replenish before the next pick run.
- Picking optimization, including walking patterns and bin locations.
- Fast movers to be on floor level and close to the dispatch doors.
- Assist with ad hoc projects as requested. i.e. repair and maintenance of the office, including camera system, security and forklifts.
- Grade 12
- Relevant diploma or degree (Beneficial)
- At least 5-years experience in FMCG environment in areas of; Warehouse operations at level of manager or supervisor
- Warehouse shift planning
- Proven system experience operating with ERP and/or WMS
- Microsoft Business Central (Beneficial)
