Role Purpose
Provide operational support to USSD, INS, LBS and MyVodacom environment.
Provide input to solution architecture, strategy and design for the USSD, INS, MyVodacom, LBS environments.
Provide input into product development and support of Telecoms Support Services.
Ensure business continuity is in place for Telecoms Support Services.
Capacity management and planning on USSD, INS, LBS and MyVodacom environment
Your Responsibilities Will Include
Routine system preventative and corrective maintenance on USSD, INS, MyVodacom, LBS applications.
Procedures are to be reviewed and amended on an on-going basis, looking for more optimal ways of carrying out the system/application checks.
Provide high level support to customer care regarding customer queries.
Focus on system, application and database administration and optimisation. This includes all possible tasks required on supported systems. Assistance can be obtained from vendors with the aim of carrying out those tasks going forward.
Monitor and manage Telecoms Support Services availability of 99, 98%. This includes proactive monitoring and detection of problems, improved means of ensuring resilience/redundancy and improved means of restoring service when interruptions to service are experienced.
High level and operational support.
Event, Incident, Problem, Change, Configuration and Continual Service Improvement management.
System Security and Backup Administration
Risk management, capacity management and planning on USSD, INS, LBS and MyVodacom environment.
Compilation of operational manuals, and statistical and fault reporting on all systems.
Management of supplier/vendor trouble tickets.
SOX Compliancy and administration on supported systems
System security patching and Backup Administration.
Co-ordinate and facilitate meetings.
Follow ISO Quality Assurance Procedures.
Implement and maintain BCP, Disaster/Recovery processes and procedures.
Maintain technical library and documentation.
Compiling and distribution of job orders as per change management procedures.
Liaising with BSG, WASPs, ASOC, Suppliers/Vendors and other divisions within Vodacom on a daily basis.
Proactive involvement in projects related to architecture changes, upgrades and the implementation of new systems and services. This includes high involvement in design, testing, implementation and comprehensive monitoring once new systems and services are implemented.
Ensuring systems and applications are performing optimally. This includes collecting data, analysis and executing required actions.
Constantly look at ways of being proactive to issues that occur on system and application level.

The Ideal Candidate For This Role Will Have
Technical / professional qualifications:
3-year National Diploma or Degree in Engineering or Computer Science. BSC/B-Tech degree preferable.
3-5 years Telecommunications experience

Experience
3-5 years Telecommunications experience and in a support/operations environment.
3-5 years advanced experience on Java based applications and UNIX related systems and applications.
Advanced Experience on the Microsoft Office package, i.e. MS Word, MS Excel and MS Power Point.
Advanced Experience in UNIX, UNIX ADMIN, and TCP/IP.
Advanced Experience in Database admin on MySQL
Special Requirements
Rotational afterhours standby duties and overtime.
Must be willing to travel.
Must be in possession of a valid drivers license.
Must be willing to work across INTSS departments.
Must be willing to work irregular hours.
Must be willing to take management delegation when required.
Must be willing to take polygraph test for NIA clearance.
