Job Description & Summary
A career in our Sustainability practice, within Risk Assurance Compliance and Analytics services, will provide you with the opportunity to assist clients in developing analytics and technology solutions that help them detect, monitor, and predict risk. Using advanced technology, were able to focus on establishing the right controls, processes and structures for our clients to ensure that decisions are based on accurate information and assure that information provided to third parties is accurate, complete, and can be trusted.
Our team helps organisations plan, source, deliver, finance and measure the wider impact of products and services. Were helping to future proof businesses by making them more resilient and sustainable. Youll focus on identifying and prioritising sustainability issues, setting goals that support alignment and integration of the sustainability vision into overall corporate strategy, and implementing processes, controls, systems, and dashboards to measure progress for consistent and accurate reporting.

Qualifications / Certifications required:
A BCom degree, preferably with honours in:
- Social Science (e.g. Sociology, Economics, Geography)
- Environmental Science (e.g. Geology, Geophysics, Environmental Science, Climate Science)
Minimum of 12-24 months experience in related field
Responsibilities of role:
Sustainability is one of the most prominent topics in current political and economic discourse. Our Sustainability and Climate Change (S&CC) team advises our clients on their sustainability strategies and how to integrate environmental, social and governance (ESG) considerations into their business models. We provide assurance on key sustainability performance indicators and also assist clients and statutory audit teams on matters related to safety, health and environment (SHE). Typically the role would include financial and non-financial assurance of ESG reports, integrated reports and to perform asset retirement, mine rehabilitation and closure liability assessments and audits, and perform environmental license and permit condition compliance auditing.
Skill sets required:
Auditing of asset retirement, mine rehabilitation and closure liability estimations. Includes the auditing of systems, controls and quantitative and qualitative data and information, along with assessing the liability estimation report content as a whole.
Auditing of sustainable development reports includes the auditing of systems, controls and quantitative and qualitative data and information, along with assessing the report content.
Role related attributes:
- Practical understanding of environmental legal requirements
- Experience in mine closure and rehabilitation liability estimations
- ISO 14001 Management System experience (will be an advantage)
- Knowledge of contaminated land and groundwater impact liability estimation (will be an advantage)
- Experience in performing EMP performance assessments, ROD and environmental performance reviews, water use compliance audits and waste license compliance audits
- Auditor characteristics as specified in ISO 19011
- Strong technical skills in the area of sustainability principles
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including written documents
- Ability to work under pressure.
