Systems Engineer ICT Services and Operations

CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

To effectively architect, manage, maintain, and support the Windows server environment and related application services offered at Nelson Mandela University and to align these with the ICT Services strategy.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

• To ensure all assigned ICT projects are managed correctly.
• Architecture and management of all Windows hosted applications.
• Management of software packaging and distribution.
• Architecture and management of the Anti-Virus and Patch management system.
• Architect and manage the physical data center infrastructure (compute and storage) and its operations.
• Provide specialist support to the ICT staff with regards to the management and administration of Windows based systems

CORE COMPETENCIES

• Architecture and administrative file server access services.
• Experience with the management of Windows based operating systems, SQL SharePoint, Office 365, and Active Directory.
• Experience with the management of HYPER-V virtualization systems.
• Proven experience with management of Windows server based platforms.
• Experience with working of the System Center product suite and cloud platforms.
• Proven ability to develop automated packaging of software packages in SCCM & INTUNE.
• Conceptualising and Analytical skills.
• Problem solving skills.
• Can work under pressure and without supervision.
• Proven ability to mentor and mange a team and capable of functioning effectively as part of a team.
• Proven experience in managing Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) and patch management.
• Proven ability to administrate, optimize, and problem solve in Windows Server environment.
• Proven ability to integrate systems and applications.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot applications.
• Proven ability to enhance Cybersecurity.

Requirements

• M + 3 Degree or Diploma in Information Technology or Computer Science
• Minimum of 3 to 5 years experience where relevant competency has been gained
• Microsoft certifications would be advantageous
