Major Accountabilities:
- Talent Identification: Use a variety of tools and methods to identify high potential employees within the organization across English-speaking African countries.
- Talent Development: Create and implement strategies for the development of identified talents, including training programs, mentoring initiatives, and career pathing.
- Talent Management: Oversee the retention and performance management of existing talent, implementing strategies that encourage performance improvement, personal development, and employee engagement.
- Talent Strategy: Develop and implement talent management strategies that align with the organization's mission and values, taking into account the specific nuances and needs of the English-speaking African markets.
- Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with other departments within the organization to ensure talent management efforts are in alignment with overall business objectives.
- Quality of Talent: Measure the performance and productivity of identified talents, looking at factors such as improvements in their skills and capabilities, their contributions to their respective departments, and their progression within the organization
- Retention Rate: Monitor the retention rate of existing talent, aiming to increase this rate through effective talent management strategies.
- Internal Promotion Rate: Track the rate of internal promotions as an indicator of effective talent development and growth within the organization.
- Stakeholder Satisfaction: Measure the satisfaction of various stakeholders (such as department heads or project managers) with the talent management processes.
- Diversity and Inclusion Metrics: Measure the diversity of the talent pool and evaluate how inclusive the workplace is, using factors such as the proportion of employees from different backgrounds, gender equality metrics, etc.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Psychology, or a related field.
- A Master's degree in a related field or an MBA with a concentration in HR would be highly beneficial.
- Professional certifications like Certified Professional in Talent Management (CPTM), SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP), or similar would be a plus.
- 5-7 years of experience in a HR or talent management role, preferably in a multinational organization with a diverse workforce.
- Previous experience in managing talent in English-speaking African countries is essential.
- Proven experience in talent development, performance management, and employee engagement.
- Familiarity with HR technology systems, including talent management software and HRIS systems.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage effectively with employees at all levels within the organization.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and adapt to rapid change.
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in data analysis and reporting.
- Understanding of HR laws and regulations in English-speaking African countries.
- Cultural sensitivity and awareness, with a deep understanding of the diverse cultures within English-speaking Africa.
