About The Role
We are extremely excited to announce that we are on the lookout for a dedicated Accountant - Tax to be based in our regional offices in Rosebank in Johannesburg.
The primary purpose of the Tax accountant : Indirect Taxes will be to manage the indirect tax document retention compliance of Orica's respective African businesses.
The successful candidate will ensure compliance with relevant tax laws and Orica policies and procedures in the different regions in respect of both direct and indirect tax.

What you will be doing
- Ensuring and driving regional compliance to Oricas Tax Standard, Tax Procedures and Tax Guidelines;
- Preparing regional VAT/TVA data for submission and lodgement with the support of local professional firms
- Reverse VAT and controlled foreign corporation VAT returns;
- Responsible for all WHT return preparation for the Africa region
- Assisting with the management of documentation in the Africa region archiving and ensuring supporting documentation for audits are readily available
- Implementing and monitoring effective indirect tax risk management strategies for each country in the region;
- Supporting regional tax team with audits by the relevant revenue authorities.
- Relevant Tertiary qualification with a focus on tax law and completed commercial training in the appropriate field of study;
- Strong knowledge of VAT and other indirect tax principles;
- Completed SAIPA / SAICA Articles;
- Experience in dealing with tax issues for multiple countries
- Knowledge of SAP will be advantageous, but not essential.
