An exciting opportunity has arisen for a TAX & FINANCE ACCOUNTANT at I&J, Woodstock Cape Town. This individual is mainly responsible for the full Group Tax (direct and indirect) requirements and all tax related queries. This individual will also be responsible for all direct and indirect tax accounting, reconciliations, and reporting.

Job Specification
- Responsible for preparation of all direct and indirect tax calculations and submission of all tax returns for South African and African entities, and relevant accounting & reporting
- Preparation of corporate income and deferred tax computations including tax schedules for month ends, interim, final year end, including SA entities and international entities
- Preparation of journals to account for taxes and full reconciliations
- Preparation of provisional tax calculations including submission to SARS and Namibian revenue services
- Process Improvement, Efficiency and Governance
- Preparation of carbon tax schedules and yearly submissions to SARS. Processing in SAP and arranging for payments
- Assist with completion of registration request for the group (PAYE, VAT, Customs, Diesel refunds, and Income Tax)
- Follow up on long outstanding refunds due by SARS.
- Assist the divisions with E-Filing queries
- Ad-hoc Tax and Finance related assistance on various projects that arise in the ordinary course of business to ad- hoc tax and administration matters
- Ad-hoc Tax and Finance related work on various projects that arise in the ordinary course of business to be dealt with effectively and promptly Assisting all business units across the group.
- Ad hoc other duties in the finance department with accounting, reporting, preparation of annual financial statements, etc.
- Resolving queries from SARS and auditors in respect of direct and indirect taxes and attending
- Monthly meeting with SARS (SARS relationship manager LBC Office Cape Town) to address tax related queries for the I&J group.
- SARS e-Filing to be regularly checked for any notices or correspondence and feedback to group.
- Resolving queries from SARS in respect of direct and indirect taxes and attending to ad hoc tax and administration matters. VAT assistance provide guidance to other business units to ensure legislative and business compliance.
- Responsible for all SARS queries, audits and verifications of direct and indirect taxes.
Minimum Requirements:
Experience
- 5 years of relevant experience in financial accounting and taxation, including complex tax and deferred tax calculations (in a corporate environment outside of an accounting/audit firm).
- SARS Efiling experience
- SAIPA articles, and 3 years post-article experience as Financial Accountant or Group Accountant or Accountant
- Bcom Degree (Accounting)
- Tax-related certifications (Advanced certificate in Income Tax and Value Added Taxation)
- A postgraduate diploma in taxation will be an advantage
