In this role, you will be responsible for delivering a full range of tax services to high-net-worth portfolio clients in compliance with laws and regulations. You will build and maintain strong relationships with clients, provide tax planning, and review complex income tax returns. Additionally, you will manage and provide training to staff members within the Fiduciary & Tax Department as well as the wider business.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, manage, and coordinate a team of tax administrators across different locations
- Provide tax planning and review income tax returns
- Identify and mitigate tax risks
- Accurately compute, complete, and submit provisional tax returns
- Improve processes by developing or implementing best practices
- Arrange provisional tax payments and assessed tax payments
- Check income tax assessments and lodge objections
- Correspond with clients and tax authorities to resolve queries within legislated timeframes
- Obtain tax clearances and attend to the cessation of tax residency matters
- Keep up-to-date with applicable legislation
- Accurately and timely maintain records relating to tax clients, including filing
- Arrange for the recovery of fees relating to tax work undertaken
- Contribute to internal and client communications
- Consolidate and grow the tax book by writing articles and providing training to the Fiduciary & Tax team and the greater business
- Relevant post-graduate qualification
- Registration as a tax practitioner in good standing
- 5+ years of experience in a similar role where work was undertaken independently and without assistance
- A proven track-record
- Excellent knowledge of tax law principles
- Fluency in English and Afrikaans
