- The Personal Income Tax Reviewer is responsible for evaluating and ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations related to personal income tax, as well as identifying potential areas of tax evasion and fraudulent activities.
- This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and comprehensive knowledge of tax codes and laws to accurately assess personal income tax returns and maintaining tax compliance and enforcing tax regulations for individuals.
- Review and evaluate personal income tax returns for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations.
- Identify potential tax evasion or fraudulent activities by conducting thorough review of personal income tax records and supporting documentation.
- Analyse and interpret complex tax codes, laws, regulations, and rulings to accurately assess tax liabilities and ensure compliance.
- Prepare detailed review reports outlining findings, recommendations, and any necessary corrective actions.
- Collaborate with internal teams, such as tax consultants or legal counsel, to resolve complex tax issues and provide guidance on personal income tax matters.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to individuals regarding personal income tax matters, including tax obligations, deadlines, deductions, and exemptions.
- Stay abreast of industry best practices, trends, and developments in personal income tax to enhance effectiveness and efficiency.
- Recommend process improvements, participate in meetings, trainings to develop and refine personal income tax procedures and strategies.
- Chartered Accountant (SA)
- Bachelors degree in accounting
- National Diploma
- Confident to engage with taxpayers.
- Able to critically review tax returns submitted by individuals and identify possible discrepancies.
- Informed on related tax acts, legislation, and regulations that impact on own work.
- Observe and engage in possible violations of regulations, policies, and standards of conduct and escalate where necessary.
- Conduct standard (limited scope) reviews to ensure compliance with the relevant acts.
- Plan and organise own work tasks within the area of work.
- Prepare and present submissions to the relevant committees.
