What will you do?
Santams Operations division within Santam Broker Solutions currently has an exciting opportunity available for a Team Manager who will be responsible for managing a team of senior commercial underwriters in the Operations Commercial Underwriting Technical (CU-Tech) team.
Key Responsibilities
Builds and maintains a high performing team which consistently delivers a Wow customer experience in terms of care, professionalism, knowledge and technical expertise.
Inspires, leads, engages, coaches, develops and motivates a team of dynamic and successful commercial underwriters to deliver the best service in the insurance industry.
Manages people related matters i.e. attendance, absence and attrition within the team to ensure service level contributions are met/exceeded.
Institute and manager processes which support underwriting and profitability objectives.
Ensure efficiency of service productivity and performance through the achievement of agreed quality assessment ratios and turn-around times.
Ensure that the team maintains expert knowledge on specific products, pricing, application procedure, processing and timelines in order to drive and achieve relevant product and service targets.
Implement & continuously improve operational policies, workflow processes and performance standards within the ambit of the CU-Tech team responsibilities.
Deliver exceptional customer service that exceeds customers expectations through proactive, innovative and appropriate solutions.
Manage own development to increase own competencies.
Manages and improves performance by focusing on strengths in staff performance as well as development areas to identify causes and issues and to work on addressing gaps.
What will make you successful in this role?
Minimum 5 -10 years experience within a short-term insurance environment
Minimum 10 years people management experience, preferably within a financial services environment
Minimum 5 years operational experience in administrative processes and procedures. Business automation would be advantageous.
People management certification/credentials
Coaching training required
Short term insurance qualification NQF6 (or studying towards) will be advantageous
Completed regulatory examination will be advantageous
Completed Grade 12
Business degree or diploma will be advantageous

Computer literate (MS Office package with strong Excel skill)
