Responsibilities
To assist the maintenance department in carrying out quality and safety inspections in the allocated area of responsibility (Civil and Building) in accordance with statutory and quality standards through the following Key Performance Areas:
- Quality control related to planned maintenance
- Quality control related to Breakdown Maintenance
- Statutory compliance, Occupational, Health and Safety
- Perform failure investigation and reporting
- Maintenance optimization and training
- Provide support to the Workshop Manager
- Assess the condition of buildings
- National Diploma in a Civil and Building discipline;
- 3 years experience in a maintenance workshop environment after obtaining the qualification;
- A valid trade test certificate
- A valid drivers license
- Physical ability to work on heights and confined spaces
- Ability to read and interpret plans and drawings;
- Knowledge of methods of construction;
- Knowledge of power tools and equipment;
- Knowledge of Health and Safety requirements;
- Knowledge of safe work procedures relating to building works;
- Knowledge of products and product datasheets relating to building works;
- Problem solving and analysis skills;
- Good communication skills;
- Computer skills: emails, Excel and Word;
- Customer focus and responsiveness ;
- Team player;
- Planning and organising.
- Risk assessment training and experience;
- Quality assurance training and experience;
- Health and safety training experience;
- Site inspection training and experience.
The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbents level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED and UMVUZO medical aid schemes and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
