Gibela Rail Consortium invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the Technical Support (Coils & Wound Stator) Position to be based in Dunnottar, Nigel. The position reports to Senior Production Manager (Traction Motors).
Job Purpose:
To provide manufacturing assistance / technical support to the manufacturing team within the coils, connections and wound stator areas. The assistance needs to ensure that all the critical processes are followed, on-the-job training provided and that the correct levels of quality are achieved.
Responsibilities:
- Responsibility for providing technical expertise and support to the Coils, Connections and Wound Stator Area, including fault finding and repair activities.
- Support with the set-up and qualification of equipment, operators and materials needed for the manufacturing of the coils and connections.
- Assist with skills development within autonomous teams. To train and develop people within the team.
- Liaise with production managers / EPU managers and provide technical assistance where required.
- Assist with the validation of documentation issued.
- Review and suggest improvements to the work instructions being utilized by the operators.
- Ensure strict implementation of manufacturing procedures supplied by Alstom;
- Support with raising Request for Clarifications (RFC) with Ornans.
- Maintain safety standards in the area of responsibility.
- Maintain equipment standards (through TPM schedules).
- Analyse and find the root cause of repetitive non compliancy / reworks.
- Defined and communicate the quality acceptance criteria at each workstation.
- Suggest actions to improve the quality of the coils and wound stator.
- Assisting in the recruiting and technical assessments of possible candidates (operators).
- Grade 12 or N3.
- Red Seal Artisan in the relevant trade.
- MS Office Literate.
- 5 Years manufacturing supervisory experience. Preference will be given to candidates with supervisory experience in the lean manufacturing environment.
- Must have > 7 years experience in armature winding and coil manufacturing.
- Good knowledge of insulation materials and taping operations.
- Experience in coil forming (including machine set-ups).
- Must display high levels of integrity, ethics and morals.
