Job Advert Summary
This role is responsible for the provision of Technical Underwriting support within the Commercial and Agriculture product suites to the Hollard Insure distribution landscape, nationally. Strategically design and implement technical underwriting assessments. Identify and close gaps in the technical underwriting knowledge base through hosting and facilitating training for brokers and branches. Monitor that the branch underwriting complies with the underwriting guidelines and mandates. Project manage the increase of underwriting capabilities across all branches. Provide key customer centric focus on a national basis.
Key Responsibilities
UNDERWRITING
- Underwrite/Assess and accept risks outside branch mandates within agreed turnaround times and ensuring business excellence
- Develop and maintain key relationships with Branches, Brokers and other Customers
- Assist branches in complex quoting queries
- As required assess branch technical underwriting, provide recommendations, and follow up on amendments required
- Provide underwriting training as required or if requested
- Ensure branch adherence to Agri/Commercial Underwriting Guidelines
- Enhance and implement changes to wordings and guidelines
- Document and support IT implementation for policy schedule and wording changes
- Review liaise, agree and sign-off Policy Wordings with Brokers and Branches
- Assist branches with facultative placements.
- Place reinsurance on FAC Facility system
- Assist in the monitoring of Facultative reinsurance
- Referral of large risks to Hollard Treaty Reinsurers.
- Identify Reinsurance training and development needs within branches
- Provision of monthly underwriting reports and other relevant management information as required
- Assist with IT projects such as underwriting system development for new products or existing product changes with the companys internal IT system or that of service providers
- Gain market intelligence: Continuous research on competitor products.
- Network with peers in the industry to keep abreast of latest insurance trends
- Provision and analysis of market developments to Hollard Insure Team and partners
- Ad-hoc Projects as may be requested by management
- Minimum of 10 years technical underwriting experience within the commercial insurance product suite
- Minimum 2+ years of management and leadership experience
- Minimum 2+years of reinsurance exposure with both Facultative and Treaty underwriting arrangements
- Sound knowledge of insurance industry best practice with Agricultural/Commercial property insurance
- Experience in handling complex or large commercial accounts
- Experience in rating the major classes of business
- Knowledge of various policy wordings including but not limited to Commercial, Property and Agri Policies
- Experience in drafting technical policy documentation (wordings, policy schedules and endorsements)
