Job Description
We are looking to fill the position of a Electrical Technologist to join our electrical engineering unit, forming part of a multi-disciplinary consulting engineering team. The company undertakes large capital projects for various clients, across many sectors.
The Technologist conducts assignments in the electrical engineering field usually as part of a project team.
Technical Excellence
- Conducts assignments in the electrical engineering field
- Plans, organizes and manages small/medium projects
- Makes recommendations on alternate solutions to engineering problems
- Prepares and presents technical plans and reports
- Institutes changes in methods, designs or equipment
- Under Supervision, performs work following the agreed-upon budget and schedule.
- When required, collects and analyses information from specific discipline and interdisciplinary project BIM models.
- Uses computer software as a tool for solving fundamental engineering problems.
- Coordinates with other discipline Engineers as applicable for the continuity of the design process.
- Participates in design progress and coordination meetings.
- Checks and ensures the quality of model production by BIM/CAD teams for accuracy to - design instructions.
- Actively seeks information, opportunities to participate and contribute, and develops efficiencies and effectiveness.
- Contributes by solving problems and applying experience or theoretical knowledge to atypical assignments.
- Assists with the design content by applying both design and technical knowledge to ensure high-quality outputs under project timelines.
- Proficient in BIM Software Revit
- Detailed Electrical Engineering of LV and MV systems including the development and checking of:
- Load Lists
- Single Line Diagrams
- Network Diagrams
- Electrical Schematic Diagrams
- Hazardous Area Classification
- Diversification and Load factors.
- Electrical Network Design
- Fault Level Calculations
- Protection Schemes modelling of protection schemes and definition of Protection settings.
- Power Metering specification and interface to Energy / Building Management Systems.
- Cable Routing Design
- Cable Sizing Calculations
- Lighting Calculations, modelling and layouts.
- Earthing Risk Assessments, earthing system design, Earthing layouts.
- Specification of Electrical Equipment including, Switchgear, Distribution Boards, Motor Control Centres, Transformers, , UPSs, Cables, Lighting, etc.
- Specification of Construction Standards of installation.
- 4+ Years' experience after obtainment of Qualification
- BTech Degree
- Registered as a Candidate Technologist or Professional Technician with ECSA
