JOB PURPOSE
Assist the claims departments with all incidents and claims and resolve queries according to best practice guidelines and process. Responsible for assessing, validating and pre-finalising personal lines and business claims.
Responsibilities
Operations Management Provide operational support by performing a range of routine activities using existing systems and protocols. Responsible for adjusting multiple settings or parameters to meet performance standards. Make fair, honest, accurate reasonable cost related decisions through the building claim life cycle. Accurate quantification and validation of buildings. Validate all incidents and claims. Quote damages on a claim: Validate claims in accordance with the relevant terms and conditions.
Customer Service
Carry out a range of customer service activities, including handling customer cases and enquiries that are more complex or outside the norm. Responsible for processing cases, dealing with complex queries and investigating and resolving customer problems. Consistently provide service in accordance to the pre-agreed service and functional standards. Provide all-round service at various locations / interaction points. Handling and resolving all queries and problems from service provider and clients. Assist with telephonic queries related to any building claims.
Client & Customer Management (External)
Help manage external client relationships by carrying out simple procedural tasks. Effectively engage with the customers, consistently demonstrating all the TCF (Treating customers fairly) behaviours, and deliver service that goes beyond what is expected (more than just the claim). Effectively build, maintain and manage relationships with service providers and customers.
Continuous Improvement
Contribute to reviewing existing operations in own area of work and generate new ideas to assist in identifying continuous improvements. Conduct workload activities in most efficient and cost-effective manner.
Personal Capability Building
Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching. Develop and maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences and /or training to obtain CPD points, and reading specialist media.
Insights and Reporting
Extract and combine data to generate standard reports. Finalise all reports and administration (reports, scanning, photographs etc.)

Provide technical guidance when required on achieving full compliance with applicable rules and regulations in management and/or operations.

Provide technical guidance when required on analyzing data trends for use in reports to help guide decision making. Quality of photography., Accurate assessment data collection.

Provide technical guidance when required on analyzing data from multiple sources to draw appropriate conclusions and make suitable recommendations. Estimation knowledge
Policy and Regulation
Provide technical guidance when required on interpreting and applying knowledge of laws, regulations and policies in area of expertise.
Costing
Provides technical guidance when required on costing.
Computer Skills
Supports business processes without supervision by understanding and effectively using standard office equipment and standard software packages, while providing technical guidance as needed. AS400., Excel., Microsoft Outlook., Symbility
Numerical Skills
Uses an understanding of numerical concepts to perform mathematical operations such as report analysis and provide technical guidance when required.
Verbal Communication
Use clear and effective verbal communications skills and provide technical guidance when required on expressing ideas, requesting actions and formulating plans or policies.
EDUCATION
General Education Grade 12 / SAQA Accredited Equivalent (Essential); BCom Degree in Civil Engineering or Quantity Surveying is (Advantageous); FAIS Accreditation or a FAIS recognized qualification (Advantageous).
Experience
General Experience
2 - 4 years work experience in the following: Building/ Construction/ Plumbing related experience (Essential). Client services experience (Essential); Investigation/Assessing experience, particularly within in a short-term insurance industry (Advantageous); Buildings Assessing experience (Advantageous).
