A position has become available for a Test Engineer based in Centurion, Gauteng
JOB STATEMENT
Technical: The test engineer will be responsible for the dewatering in the laboratory. Key duties will include compiling proposals to prospective customers, formulating test programs, executing test work, data collating and interpretation, report writing and presenting outcomes to customers. The test engineer will also be required to conduct site (processing plants) testing, audit work and process commissioning of equipment where required.
Non-Technical: Manage operational budget of the laboratory, uphold Health, Safety and Environmental practices as per Metso Outotec HSE standards. The test engineer will also develop and maintain internal and external relationships required to ensure effectiveness & influence both internally and with customers.
Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Support sales team to drive sales solutions for Minerals Sales and after sales projects.
- Training Market Area sales team on various testing methods such that what we offer the customer is aligned to our competencies
- Supporting the Market Area sales team with creating process guarantees. Supporting the MA sales team when creating value argumentation
- New equipment commissioning
- Manage operational spend regarding the testing facility and/or budget, by facilitating and integrating improvements and maintenance of testing facility
- Dewatering equipment selection and sizing (selecting the correct equipment and sizing based on the customers needs and test work data generated)
- Conducting performance tests such that process guarantees offered to customers are satisfied
- Process optimization, troubleshooting and sizing of industrial filters and thickeners
- Support different Metso Outotec teams with plant audits and process optimization
- Support different Metso Outotec teams with plant audits and process optimization
- Conducting dewatering test work with all available test equipment, in house and customer sites in Market Area Africa
- Conducting bench scale and pilot test work campaigns with all available equipment.
- Knowledge sharing and networking with the peers across the globe
- Preparation of dewatering tests in close cooperation with the customer and agreeing to the objectives of the test campaign
- Close cooperation with global technical product management team
- Preparing test work quotations for customers
- Arranging sample and/or test equipment logistics
- Preparation and updating of test schedule and other Metso Outotec systems
- Preparation and distribution of test reports / presentations according to Metso Outotec standards
- Maintaining proper condition of the test equipment. Taking the necessary actions required to ensure tat the equipment is healthy and available
- Management of testing laboratory and test work activities. Acquiring the necessary tools to ensure testing quality

- Matric (Grade 12)
- Technical / Mechanical or Mineral Processing qualification
- At least 3 years of proven track record in a similar role
- At least 3 years exposure to Mineral processing operations will be an advantage.
- Experience in working in a customer-focused and fast-paced professional environment.
- Good knowledge of Sales Force software or other Customer Relationship Management software and dewatering equipment sizing will be an advantage
- Computer literate in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to build trust
- Customer-centric mindset, able to translate customer issues/needs into profitable business solutions
- Good interpersonal, communication, presentation & facilitation skills
- Adaptability: maintaining effectiveness when experiencing major changes in work tasks or the work environment; adjusting effectively to work within new work structures, processes, requirements, or cultures
