Position Description

We have a position within the Corporate Investment Banking (CIB) Equity Markets Operations team for a dynamic individual who is willing to contribute by adding value to the Lines of Business we support. Help us execute on our strategic Initiatives for the SSA Franchise and most importantly to ensure effective trade support & trade life cycle management for the SA Equities franchise.

Job Responsibilities
  • Ensuring a well-controlled and efficient operating model that includes the performance of all relevant control reconciliations including stock/cash positions and FOBO reconciliations
  • Create a robust control environment to ensure errors are detected, corrected and prevented from reoccurring in the future
  • Understanding the dual management systems and have the ability to introduce more control procedures to ensure the systems are always in sync
  • Trade capture in BDA & JPM corporate systems and capturing of client allocations in BDA
  • Trade life cycle management and Trade events management
  • Liaising with sales/traders; clients; custodian and internal JPM colleagues to ensure timely and accurate processing and settlement of all transactions
  • Appropriate and timely escalation and reporting of any pertinent issues
  • Proactive problem identification and query resolution
  • Perform root cause analysis on breaks to identify the cause, increase STP and mitigate the risk of breaks reoccurring
  • Opening of accounts and reference data maintenance in BDA & JPM corporate systems
  • Ownership and resolution of all daily tasks as well as any extraordinary issues that arise
  • Support of new initiatives and or system implementations
  • Meeting all MIS and reporting deadlines
Requires Qualification, Capabilities, And Skills.
  • A thorough understanding and appreciation of a sound operations control environment
  • Solid understanding of the South African equities market conventions
  • Ability to develop and maintain sound working relationships at all levels, with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Ability to prioritize and co-ordinate work flows effectively.
  • A thorough understanding of the trade lifecycle and events management.
  • Strong analytical skills to perform root cause analysis on related processes and controls.
  • Solutions first, to help us increase STP and mitigate the risk of recurring risk events.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Alignment with JPMs purpose - Service, Heart, Courage, Curiosity, Excellence
  • B. Com degree or equivalent business qualification.
Preferred Qualification, Capabilities, And Skills.
  • Extensive BDA experience is advantageous.
  • Proficient excel skills.
  • Relevant South African equities operations experience.
  • Experience working with an international bank is advantageous.
  • Proven project experience
