Traineeship Opportunity- Waves for Change
- Full Time (Contract until 2018)
The Organization: Founded in 2012, Waves for Change is a multi-award winning African Surf Therapy organization that works to alleviate symptoms of trauma and stress in young people from backgrounds of poverty and violence. Waves for Change provides safe spaces, access to caring adults, and provision of weekly ‘Surf Therapy Sessions’ to help young people from volatile backgrounds develop skills and techniques to cope with stress, regulate their behavior, build healing relationships and make positive life-choices”. Our programmes operate in communities across the Cape Town coastline and are based from shipping containers which we place on township beachfronts.
The Role:
As a Mentor at Waves for Change you are a role model to your peers, your colleagues and a leader on the field. You’ll be working with kids from your local community on the beach. During your 2 years contract you’ll qualify as a lifeguard and gain valuable Child care experience.

Responsibilities:
- Child Support and Case Management
- Community Outreach
- Personal Performance
- Mentoring of Youth
The Essentials:
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Enjoy being in the water & Able to swim/surf?
- Passionate about working with kids and their wellbeing.
- Are you 18-24 years old?
- Have a police clearance/have applied for it.
