A debt consolidation company situated in Pretoria East is offering an opportunity for a Training Officer to join their team. The Training Officer will primarily focus on the development of job-specific training material and the execution of effective job-specific training interventions across the company.

- Create and maintain content rich training manuals for all departments.
- Liaise with department managers to ensure training meets manager expectations.
- Use a variety of training delivery methods to ensure employee engagement and maximum absorption of the materials (a combination of content, practical and role-playing).
- Ensure that all training meets the correct technical standard for each department.
- Liaise with the Quality Officer on gaps identified in technical and soft skills (communication, conflict handling, relationship building, etc.) required by customer-facing employees.
- Successfully onboard new employees by providing them with training material and training sessions aimed at the specific role that the employee will fulfil at the company.
- Be responsible for the identifying, scoping, planning and execution of training that current employees might need in order to improve specific skills that might be necessary for them to improve their performance.
- Use experience and skills to train fellow employees.
- Remain up to date with process changes, policy updates and system enhancements.
- Occasionally use external training facilitators in order to reach training quotas and up-skilling goals.
- Work closely with HR to ensure that vacant jobs have exact job descriptions.
- Use job descriptions and employee expectations to formulate training material.
- Plan the onboarding and training for all new employees at the company.
- Work closely with the Quality Officer to identify gaps in knowledge to be rectified through training.
- Formulate a training response to rectify departmental KPI failures in order to rectify these issues.
- Arrange follow up sessions with employees after they have received training in order to establish the level of success of the training received and if further training might be required.
- Issue formal assessments (written or oral) to employees.
- Facilitate and examine the performance of employees during assessments.
- Establish minimum pass requirements in collaboration with departmental managers.
- Discuss test results with the Project Management Officer to enable discussions with the Director/s regarding employee performance, which may result in suspension (during probation period) or the movement of employees within the company.
- Create and maintain a comprehensive training plan in the short term for the onboarding of new employees, and for the improvement of necessary skills for current employees in the long term.
- Discuss career paths, employee expectations and departmental needs regarding training in order to achieve company goals.
- Ensure the facility within which training will be provided is adequately set up before each training session:
- Enough space for all learners.
- Enough manuals printed for all learners.
- The TV is in working order.
- There is a backup cable in case WI-FI is not working.
- There are refreshments provided for attended.
- The room is clean.
- There are whiteboard markers for explanations.
- An agenda is provided to managers and attended for planning purposes.
- The room is booked ahead of time to avoid double-booking.
- Maintain punctuality and professionalism during training interventions as these colour the view employees have of the business.
- Provide attendees with a survey after each training session on the quality of the training received and on any suggested improvements.
- Always seek to improve training content and delivery for maximum efficacy.
- Share training surveys with the Project Management Officer.
