Ekapa is situated in Kimberley in the Northern Cape province of South Africa, near the Free State border. Ekapa Mining is the 100% owner of Ekapa Resources and Ekapa Minerals. Ekapa Resources is the owner of the underground mining rights and Ekapa Minerals is the owner of the surface mining rights. It is operated as one entity and comprises five units: Joint Shaft, Wesselton, Combined Treatment Plant (CTP), Surface Mining, and Services and Support.
Job Description: This position requires an incumbent that will be appointed as the Section 3(1)a Manager of the underground mines of Ekapa.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
Manage and coordinate the safe operation of mining and underground activities.
Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation (MHSA, Explosives Act, etc.).
Ensure a continuous profitable and sustainable underground business.
Management of projects in approved time frames.
Ensure development targets for both mining shafts.
Ensure operational cost as per target per tonnes treated.
Provide required resources and processes to achieve set targets.
Positively contributes towards the 20-year life of mine.
Set a zero harm safety culture.
Ensure company culture and values.
Ensure clear and effective communication within the teams.
Ensure good relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Minimum Requirements:
BSc Degree: Mining Engineering/BTech in Mining Engineering/National Higher Diploma in Mining Engineering
Mine Managers Certificate of Competence Metalliferous
Experience in Block Caving, Massive Mining, and Trackless Mechanised Mining (TMM)
Advanced Computer Literacy in MS Office suite
Valid Drivers license
