The Underwriting Product Specialist will be responsible for supporting the underwriting of policies by pricing risks, developing insurance terms and conditions and examining insurable conditions in accordance with the specific underwriting mandate on a Binder as well as any additional support as required
This is a great opportunity for someone with a proven background within underwriting experience looking for a new challenge or even someone looking to join a predominantly underwriting role from a different field of insurance such as Broking or Claims, with a good understanding of insurance and looking for a new challenge with an established team within a market leading insurance broker.
This is a full-time, fixed term role and you must be able to attend the Johannesburg office a minimum of 3 days a week including Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday.

- Assist in risk assessments to help determine appropriate terms and conditions for coverage on Binder Facilities for Personal Accident, Travel and Motor lines of coverage.
- Collect, analyse and review all submissions in respect of information required for proper analysis of all new and existing insurance applications.
- Support the underwriting of policies by pricing risks, developing insurance terms and conditions, and examining insurable conditions in accordance with the specific underwriting mandate on a Binder.
- Communicate internally and externally to obtain risk information to support the underwriting process on accounts for Binder Facilities.
- Assist in identifying opportunities to offer solutions to existing client/broker accounts by evaluating the nature of the risk and analysing insurance risk.
- Offer technical advise as a subject matter expert on Personal Accident, Travel, Motor coverage
- Insurance experience preferably within Underwriting/Binders
- Experience in resolving member queries
- Clear and concise oral and written communication skills
- FAIS Compliant / RE 5 Certificate
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools Outlook, Word and Excel
