Summary of position:
We are looking for a highly skilled Waiter to elevate our dining experience for guests by delivering excellent customer service - this role is not just about taking orders and delivering food to the table.
You’ll need to have the right blend of personality and perseverance to thrive in this role. You’ll need to be able to memorise our menu and seasonal specials;
provide detailed information on food and beverages, multi-task various front-of-the-house duties, upsell without being pushy, and process a bill without errors. You should also be a team player and be able to effectively communicate with our back of house team to make sure orders are accurate and delivered promptly. You will have great stamina and can be on your feet for long periods of time. You are friendly, keen to build strong working relationships with colleagues, and can be relied on to be on time for your shift.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Welcome guests to your station/section in a courteous, friendly and professional manner
- Present menu when requested and provide detailed information about our offerings
- Prepare tables by setting up napkins, silverware and glasses
- Inform guests about any about specials and offer menu recommendations upon request
- Up-sell additional products when appropriate
- Take accurate orders from guests and ensure that it is accurately posted to the point of sale system
- Serve food and drink orders
- Check dishes and kitchenware for cleanliness and presentation and report any problems
- Arrange table settings and maintain a clean and tidy set up in all dining areas
- Maintain accurate customer bill and make sure that all items are correctly charged for before processing payment
- Check that all menus and POS system prices are correct
- Clear guest tables, ensuring that the table is always clean and tidy
- Meet with restaurant staff to review daily specials, changes on the menu and service specifications for reservations (e.g. parties)
- Follow all relevant health and safety regulations
- Adhere to the code and conduct of the business as set out in the Employee Handbook
Person specification:
Essential
- Minimum of 2 years’ in fine dining or five (5) star establishments
- Hands-on experience with Point of Sale/ordering information system
- Basic math skills
- Active listening and effective verbal communication skills
- Strong organisational and multitasking skills, with the ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility to work in shifts
- Ability to work for extended periods without sitting
- Ability to memorise menu information
- Matric certificate/High School diploma or equivalent
Desirable
- Qualification in Hospitality Management
- International food & beverage working experience
- Food safety training
- Fluent in Mandarin or Cantonese
- Previous Chinese food experience
- Wine and cocktail knowledge
- Previous experience with carving or deboning fish tableside

Job type: Full-time, shift work
Salary range: R6,000 – R8,000 gross, per month (dependent on experience).
