Job Description
We are looking for a creative and talented UI Designer to design and shape unique, user-centric digital products and experiences in our Digital, Data and Analytics Portfolio. The ideal candidate will have experience in UI Design and will be proficient in Figma. The UI Designer has the ability to create, document and contribute towards the design system. This candidate will be working in agile teams, with UI developers, UX designers and copywriters. You will be able to make deliberate design decisions and to translate any given user-experience journey into a delightful and intuitive experience informed by data and current UI interactions and governance.
- Introducing and applying expert art direction to the visual design across digital projects
- Ensuring a high standard of visual execution on allocated work
- Proactively drive collaboration and alignment across design team
- Carry out the User Interface Design activities on digital product development and continuous improvement initiatives in the Digital Financial Services space
- Ensure collaboration and alignment with all associated disciplines of Feature, Content, UX and Design thinking in the various phases of the digital product development
- Drive the use of knowledge management and collaboration platform(s) for Design processes, tools and artefacts
- Collaborate closely with Developers, Copywriters, UX designers, Digital Products Owners, Ecommerce
- Ensure effective documentation and communication of design via prototypes, mood boards, journey maps, mockups, story definition, usability findings and UI designs.
- Ensure that delivery of interface has incorporated all various disciplines (Research, ID, UI, VD, Content Writing) in the interface process
- Contribute towards the interface (standards, patterns, components, tools etc.) and knowledge (customer, business, trends, metrics etc.) frameworks that form the basis of the Old Mutual digital experience design environment.
- Create, improve and define creative direction through use of mood boards, competitor analysis, prototypes, style guides, user flows
- Have a thorough understanding of component creation, documentation and the upkeep of design system.
- Present and defend decisions. All your design decisions should be based on the overall design roadmap as well as your own design thinking and fundamental principles (i.e. color theory, visual weight, etc.)
- Continually keep yourself and your design team updated with the latest changes in your industrys standard
- Understanding of basic front-end languages: HTML5, CSS3 Javascript.
- Solid Understanding of Visual Design principles
- Agile and lean UX
- Run Ideation, Co-creation, Rapid-prototyping sessions
- Actively contribute to the Old Mutual design system, frameworks and UCD artefacts
- Ensures creation of interactive high-fidelity prototypes of user interface designs that visually and textually communicate the behaviour of digital products where applicable or feasible.
- Collaborate with on high-quality visual and interaction design and front-end development to generate engaging and enriched UI design, in line with UX prototypes and design strategies.
- Use systems thinking to address problems and questions at scale.
- Plans and scopes design execution that will improve product and service experience outcomes at scale.
- Creates, analyses & manages work that provide direct business impact.
- Demonstrates some knowledge of how industry trends & competitive landscape impact Old Mutual Digital
- Sees cross platforms patterns to help drive a converged Digital Experience for Old Mutual Customers.
- Hands-on experience creating Visual design and Storytelling artefacts
- Identifies new project opportunities based on design thinking principles and prior outcomes.
- Helps teams translate ideas into plans and actions.
- Uses data-driven decision making to inform design and its ROI
- Experience working in an agile/scrum development process.
