A financial services company is looking for a VB/VB.NET developer who will be responsible for maintaining and further developing our in-house application and ensuring the stability, reliability, and performance of the application.
Job rsponsibilities:
- You will also need to optimise in-application SQL statements as necessary, and establish and maintain best practices.
- You will help solve all database usage issues related to the application and come up with ideas and advice that can help avoid such problems in the future.
- Maintain and further develop in-house application
- Ensure performance, security, and availability of in-house application
- Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders
- Communicate with business users regarding requirements and design reviews
- Maintain SQL interaction with other applications
- Provide support to team members and users
- Document code, provide progress reports, and perform code reviews
- Ensure timely delivery of developed applications and systems
- Ensure project deadlines are met according to contracted SLA with business

Job requirements:
- The salary will be market-related and dependant on experience, it is structured as a Total Cost to Company package.
- Work week is Monday to Friday and work over week-ends & after hours is as required.
- Strong proficiency in VB and VB.NET
- Design and development of databases with strong skills in MS SQL Server
- Design and development of programmes with strong skills in Visual Studio
- Crystal Reports experience
- XML experience
- Java knowledge would be beneficial
- Develop coding standards and adhere to the standards
- Capable of troubleshooting common database and VB and SQL issues, analytical, diagnostic and problem solving skills
- Functional specification and change control documentation writing skills
- Communication skills (written and verbal)
- Interpersonal / Relationship management skills
- The ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines
- Ability to work under own initiative without guidance, cope well under sustained pressure and deliver to deadlines
- Working in a production environment together with small size team on the same code base with frequent releases

- National Senior Certificate (Grade 12), related IT degree or diploma, at least 5years’ experience in software development
