- Management of Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision Clinical Service Providing Medical/Surgical Care:
- Assessing suitability of men to undergo circumcision
- Assessing and managing patients through all the VMMC “package of services”(e.g. management of STIs,
- Counselling).
- Perform voluntary medical male circumcision procedures on suitable clients, in accordance with
- accepted protocols/models
- Clinical management of pre and post-operative patients
- Prescribing medication where/as appropriate
- Following up, monitoring and managing patients post VMMC for AE’s according to SA National and WHO VMMC guidelines and protocols
- Reporting according to standard VMMC M&E requirements
- Being part of a roving team that performs VMMC in other settings
- Provision of Post Exposure Prophylaxis according to accepted guidelines
- Managing Clinical Services:
- Supervise all clinical professional staff members in the patient care setting.
- Implementation of Department of Health VMMC guidelines and WHO MOVE Model.
- Ensure that infection control policies are adhered to.
- Caseload analysis including identifying situations in which patients are scheduled for unnecessary services and
- Revising treatment plans to address these situations.
- Developing policies and standard operating procedures that help the organization maintain compliance with
- Company standards, health care laws and regulations.
- Represent the organization in clinical and community demand activities with key stakeholders (Department of Health, private companies, etc.) in liaison with clinic manager.
- Conducting studies/evaluations in accordance with ethically approved protocols
- Conducting morbidity reviews.
- Ensure facility equipment is maintained
- Performing any other duties that will contribute to the efficient running of the VMMC Programme as may be assigned by management
- Qualification / Professional Membership
- Medical Degree (MBChB, or equivalent)
- Valid registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner
- Demonstrable understanding of relevant SA DOH HIV/AIDS/STI/TB management guidelines and policies
- VMMC trained and certified by CHAPS
- Demonstrable ability to work in a team
- Work Experience
- At least 2 years’ experience in treating PLWHA
- At least 2 years’ experience in a public sector primary health care setting
- Other requirements
- Intermediate personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word, processing, spread sheet, graphics.
