Role Purpose/Business Unit:
Accountable for Energy Operations functions within the Southern Gauteng Central Region and to ensure a reliable high quality network service is provided to customers. The role will be accountable for overall site performance, maintenance and recovery BSC/Hub sites as well as various energy components in the network assuring availability and resilience.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and support of Energy related aspects within the region.
- Give inputs and execute on the energy strategy and operations within the regions.
- To dimension end to end site power including battery capacity, rectifier capacity, cooling which will be adequate for all technologies up to 5G as well as EBU sites within the operations group.
- Give inputs to various energy and dimensioning exercises to keep all systems in the Operations area available at all times.
- Accountable for all energy related matters to deliver network availability above 99, 5%
- Implement operational routines and best practice to reduce network OPEX.
- Accountable for Proactive Maintenance of all on-site energy supplies at operational sites including elements to effectively run such systems (monitoring, maintenance, protection etc)
- Management of environmental alarms
- Manage Capacity utilisation i.e. power, HVAC (aircon), space etc. on operational sites.
- Diesel and Energy management manage and improve performance via Power Utilisation and Efficiency KPI (Vodafone defined). Research and implement best practice to improve efficiencies.
- Accountable to identify key risk areas and ensure governance models are developed, implemented and/or adhered to. e.g. SOX, Health and Safety, SANS 0142 Audit(ISO 14001), ISO 9001, SANS (GMR), and physical access management (CRM etc.)
- Input into formulation of strategy e.g network optimisation strategies to ensure improvement in Network performance and availability
- Produce various management reports and ensure standard documentation is completed (e.g. maintenance records, equipment layout diagrams, project documentation, tracking, audit reports )
Qualifications:
- B Degree in Electrical Engineering or 3 year Diploma in Electrical Engineering
- At least 3-5 years experience in Technical Operations within a telecommunication network operator. (Essential), inclusive of the following:
- Must have at least 5 years experience in one or more of the following operational areas: Energy and environmental Operations/Radio Maintenance & Transmission/Network Performance Management (Essential)
- At least 4 years operational and support experience in the relevant operational environment (Essential)
