The Role
As the VP of Engineering, you will take the lead in leveraging your technical proficiency, excellent communication skills, and leadership acumen to drive product development and contribute to technical strategies within their organisation. You will:
- Lead the development, scalability, and maintenance of consumer-facing web applications integral to Primis.
- Actively participate in the entire software development lifecycle.
- Collaborate on product design, identifying UI/UX enhancements, and proposing innovative solutions.
- Demonstrate a robust understanding of security measures and data protection implications within our projects.
- Contribute to and help shape Primis' best practices and standards in software development.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering an environment of continuous learning and growth.
- Proficient in designing architecture, planning, estimating, and executing complex software projects.
- Versatility in various programming languages, with a natural curiosity and eagerness to explore new technologies.
- Motivate and guide team members to ensure high-quality solutions aligned with Primis' business goals.
- Advocate for and help foster a product-oriented engineering culture, emphasising continuous improvement in all aspects of product development.
- Challenge assumptions, identify issues, and propose effective solutions within the Primis context.
- Contribute to the over-arching software architecture with a focus on scalability and reliability.
- Knowledge of REST best practices
- Knowledge of CI/CD best practices.
- Knowledge of analytics, monitoring and logging best practices
- Git workflow best practices
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases and serverless architecture
- Knowledge of specific technologies or frameworks used at Primis, such as:
- Typescript or Javascript
- AWS
- Datadog
- MongoDB
- React (Vite and NextJs)
- Understanding or experience with cloud architecture. Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) is a plus.
- Exposure to Agile Project Management
- Previous leadership or team lead experience with excellent communication skills and a strong team-player mindset.
- Experience in working at scale and with high-performance systems relevant to Primis's operations.
- Experience with logistics and/or eCommerce is a plus.
