Looking for a warehouse assistant in Durban.
Job responsibilities:
- Maintains receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
- Complies with local warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
- Safeguards warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols.
- Controls inventory levels by conducting physical counts; reconciling with data storage system.
- Maintains physical condition of warehouse by planning and implementing new design layouts; inspecting equipment; issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement.
- Achieves financial objectives by preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
- Completes warehouse operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.
- Maintains warehouse staff job results by coaching.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; participating in professional societies.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Check documents for thoroughness, completeness & prepare additional documentation when necessary.
- Initiate all requests for replenishment of stock.
- Overseeing the receipt and storage of incoming items
- Processing orders and planning the receiving of products
- Collaborating with procurement staff to list expected deliveries
- Receiving shipments and signing paperwork upon receipt
- Unloading packages from incoming deliveries
- Inspect contents to ensure they are undamaged
- Verify packages according to order and invoices (quantity, quality, price etc.)
- Contact supplier or shipper if a mistake is identified
- Assume responsibility for returning unsatisfactory shipments or receiving replacements
- Maintain accurate records and assist in inventory control
- Monitoring space and tracking stock levels
- Scheduling equipment maintenance and replacing when required
- Supervise computer operations
- Co-ordinate and take periodic inventories and participate in monthly inventory program at head office and at each branch.
- Perform related tasks as required.
- Monthly stock takes at head office is compulsory and all branches when required.
