The Opportunity
We have an opportunity for a Wet Services Engineer who is close to chartership/professional registration with ECSA and who is looking for technically challenging work on cutting-edge projects to become a permanent member of our creative, friendly Building Engineering Team in South Africa.
You will work on some of the most exciting and innovative buildings across the region with leading clients and architects. The team are currently involved with numerous projects worldwide across Africa, from concept design through to practical completion.
You will be a key part of a multidisciplinary, collaborative team of Engineers and Technicians, with access to and support from our global skills sharing networks. Our projects are global and will allow you to work with and succeed in an international, multi-cultural business environment with a strong focus on sustainability in all we do.

Is this role right for you?
  • Design full plumbing, drainage, fire water and sprinkler systems for buildings in accordance with local or international standards.
  • Design hot water generation systems and bulk water storage and pumping systems for buildings.
  • Be expected to use of BIM software (Revit) for 3D modelling of services equipment and piping and generate schedules.
  • Generate construction documents, such as Bills of Quantities (BOQs), specifications and detailed drawings.
  • Attend site visits and meetings and perform any actions arising therefrom.
  • Incorporation of sustainability in all design aspects.
  • Help to co-ordinate your own and others work with that of other disciplines, including in-house specialists.
  • Liaise with clients, architects, and contractors for the delivery of designs.
  • Work with and be supported by senior engineers and leadership.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced members of the team.
  • Proactively manage your own professional development.
You will have the freedom to work independently, managing your personal development utilising our in house and external training opportunities.
What are we looking for?
For this opportunity, we are seeking the following qualifications, skills, and attributes:
  • BTech Engineering or Bachelor of Engineering - Mechanical or Civil.
  • You are an enthusiastic engineer who enjoys working collaboratively in multi-discipline professional design teams and taking responsibility for projects from inception to completion to achieve outstanding results.
  • You are actively working towards Professional Engineer status with experience in the field of Building Services (Plumbing / Wet Services) Engineering.
  • You are committed to your own professional development and looking for stimulating work to develop your engineering skill.
These skills and capabilities will include:
  • Knowledge and interest in sustainable building design in terms of both energy and carbon and satisfying associated regulatory and voluntary codes.
  • Creative and inquisitive with an interest and awareness of building design beyond your own discipline.
  • Ability to think outside your specialism and integrate multi-disciplinary requirements into holistically coordinated solutions.
  • Knowledge of current regulations and emerging technologies.
  • Enjoy working as part of a larger team, contributing to and sharing in collective project successes.
  • Highly motivated and willing to take on new challenges.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to present and explain thinking and design decisions.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Revit.

Essential Skills and Knowledge:
  • You should have demonstrable experience working as a plumbing/wet services building engineer.
Desirable Skills and Knowledge:
  • Ideally, your experience will cover a range of project sectors and design stages.
  • Experience and developing knowledge in using water network design software.
  • Interest in developing and integrating digital tools into workflows to streamline ways of working.
