Workshop Foreman
Minimum Skills/Experience and knowledge required (Competencies):
- Qualified Diesel Mechanic (trade papers essential)
- Experience on trucks, tipper trailers & yellow equipment & hydraulics would be advantages
- Diploma in Road transport or studying toward a diploma of similar criteria
- Valid Code EC license with PRDP
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance
- Experience at a supervisory level beneficial
- Computer Literacy - MS Office
- SHEQ related training
- Computer literacy
- Experience on Mercedes-Benz, MAN and Scania
- Manpower utilization
- Service scheduling and planning
Brief description of key performance areas:
- Oversee and implement the fleet maintenance programme
- Manage stock levels and the purchase of replacement parts and equipment
- Manage performance of a shift or skilled and semi-skilled artisans
- Manage the vehicle maintenance cost to acceptable levels
- Ensure successful implementation, monitoring and management of SHEQ procedures
- Attend to breakdowns and implement maintenance schedules
- Develop and maintain a sound relationship with staff and suppliers
- Build and maintain a relationship with internal stake holders
- Motivate staff to increase morale while enhancing overall performance
- Must show leadership qualities
- Manage staff HR matters, including grievances and disciplinary enquires
- Develop, monitor and enforce preventative maintenance schedules
- Ensure a safe working environment is maintained
