Workshop Lead

TheWorkshop Lead is responsible for overseeing the repair, testing, and maintenance activities of BESS components and equipment in the workshop, ensuring efficient operations, adherence to quality standards, and timely completion of RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) processes. Your strong administrative and leadership skills and commitment to teamwork will contribute to the effective management of the workshop team and the reliable performance of BESS systems.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager: Projects

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise a team of Workshop (RMA) Technicians, providing guidance, support, and training to ensure high-quality workmanship and efficient workflow.
  • Coordinate and prioritize repair, testing, and maintenance activities of BESS components and equipment in the workshop, ensuring timely completion and adherence to RMA procedures.
  • Assign tasks and allocate resources effectively, considering technician skills, workload, and project priorities, to optimize team performance and productivity.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations in the workshop, promoting a safe working environment and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with other cross-functional teams to streamline RMA processes, improve efficiency, and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain workshop equipment, tools, and inventory, ensuring availability, proper maintenance, and calibration of equipment and tools.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the workshop team, promoting knowledge sharing and skills development.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), repair guidelines, and documentation templates, ensuring consistency and compliance with quality standards.
  • Participate in project planning and resource allocation discussions, providing input on workshop requirements, timelines, and staffing needs.
  • Maintain effective communication with internal teams, stakeholders, and customers, providing updates on repair progress, warranty claims, and technical issues.
  • Track and analyze workshop performance metrics, such as repair turnaround time, first-time fix rate, and customer satisfaction, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
Essential Requirements
  • Grade 12
  • Administration Diploma advantageous
  • 3 4 years administrative experience
  • Quality Assurance experience advantageous
  • Microsoft Office Package
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Three years of progressively responsible experience supporting, implementing, and providing direct technical services in a complex network environment
