Background
Over the past few years there has been a significant escalation in the illegal trade of succulents from South Africas arid zone which is threatening populations of many species of succulents.
WWF is assisting SANBI with capacity for the implementation of the National Response Strategy and Action Plan to address the Illegal trade in South African Succulents. The Coordinator shall be responsible for receiving and processing confiscated succulent plant material, supporting the effective and efficient writing of expert statements for the law enforcement process with regard to illegal succulent trade cases, and supporting the selling and transfer of plant material to a network of botanic gardens to maximise our ability to conserve genetic material for future reintroductions.
The Coordinator will work closely with and be supervised by the Senior Scientific Coordinator: Illegal Succulent Trade.
