I am writing this letter with regards to the Foundation Phase position at your school. I have had 5 years of experience working with children from the ages of 4 years old all the way to 9 years old. I have also taught at various levels of schools for example from community based and very low resourced schools to a fully resourced school. Through these years I have managed to work with both large class sizes of 41 learners as well as small class sizes of 24 learners. In 2022, I had the opportunity to relocate to a different province and finding myself opening up the doors to teaching online English to students. I have learned many skills through this journey and have learned so much about myself and broadening my knowledge about online education. I believe my skills combined with my ability to foster constructive learning environments, make me an ideal candidate for this role.
My name is Jenna-Leigh Higgs, I am 25 years old. I have completed my degree in Education specifically in the Foundation Phase years at Varsity College. I completed my degree with a Magna Cum Laude with an aggregate of over 80%. I am an enthusiastic person, who will always try their best when it comes to helping people. I have a passion for teaching whether it is physically inside a classroom or working online. I want to share my knowledge and experiences on education with others to allow them to have positive and encouraged learning environment, as everyone has a right to education. I am a hard-working person who will never give up and will assist the school/ company where I can. I can work alone or in a group scenario, I am able to pick up on new skills quickly and adapt to my surroundings. Furthermore, I can work under pressure and I communicate well with people. I am a confident person, and good at problem solving. I am self-motivated and can get things done on my own. Lastly, I have good time management skills and punctual to be at places on time.
Beyond my teaching experience, I believe I have the skills, positivity and enthusiasm that makes me the perfect fit to serve this role as a foundation phase teacher. I can share my values, beliefs, and experiences with the colleagues and students. I have always had a passion for education, and I believe that every person should have the right to education and to continue their journey in learning their interests. Having had a lifelong passion for education. At the end of the day, I chose to become a teacher as I see it more as a calling rather than a career. I am very excited by the prospect of working alongside you, your staff, and administrators to help more students to grow and flourish during their education journey.
